Terms of Use

Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using KeyScan.io. By accessing or using the KeyScan.io website or scanning service (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of these Terms; by agreeing to these Terms, you also agree to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About the Service

KeyScan.io is a security scanning tool operated by Cool Apps LLC that scans websites and Chrome extensions for exposed API keys and credentials. The Service is intended for use by website owners, developers, and security professionals to identify vulnerabilities in their own properties.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using KeyScan.io, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

By submitting a URL or Chrome Extension ID for scanning, you expressly consent to KeyScan.io recording the IP address associated with your scan request, as described in our Privacy Policy. This consent is provided as a condition of using the Service in any jurisdiction where such consent is required for the collection or processing of this information.

3. Authorized Use Only

You may only scan websites and Chrome extensions that you own or have explicit written authorization to scan. By submitting a URL or Chrome Extension ID for scanning, you represent and warrant that you own the property being scanned, or that you have obtained explicit authorization from its owner to scan it on their behalf. Scanning third-party properties without authorization may violate applicable laws. Cool Apps LLC is not responsible for any unauthorized use of the Service.

Access to scan results requires payment to unlock the full report. The party completing payment to unlock a report is deemed the responsible party for that scan for purposes of the representations in this Section and the indemnification obligations in Section 9.

4. Payment and Reports

• Full scan reports and KeyScan Certificates of Secure Credentials are each available for a one-time fee, processed via Stripe.
• All sales are final. No refunds are issued once a report or Certificate has been delivered.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to scan websites or extensions you do not own or have authorization to scan
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Service
• Use automated tools to abuse the free scan feature
• Use the Service in any way that could harm Cool Apps LLC or its users

6. KeyScan Certificate of Secure Credentials

KeyScan.io offers a Certificate of Secure Credentials (the "Certificate") as an optional add-on purchase for scans that return no findings. The following terms apply to the Certificate and supersede any conflicting general terms with respect to the Certificate product specifically.

• Point-in-time certification only. The Certificate certifies the result of a single scan performed at a specific date and time. It does not represent a continuous, ongoing, or future assessment of the scanned property. Credentials or vulnerabilities introduced after the scan date are not covered.
• Limited scope — 70+ known credential formats. The KeyScan scanning engine detects 70+ known API key and credential formats as of the scan date. The Certificate reflects only the absence of those specific formats in the scanned property. Other credential formats, vulnerability types, and security issues outside the scope of the KeyScan engine — including formats not yet known to or catalogued by Cool Apps LLC — may exist in the scanned property and are not addressed by the Certificate.
• Not a warranty or guarantee of security. The Certificate is not a warranty, guarantee, or representation that the scanned property is secure, free from all vulnerabilities, or compliant with any security standard, regulation, or framework. It is a record of a specific scan result only. Cool Apps LLC makes no representation that a Certificate-holding property is free from security risks of any kind.
• No liability for undetected credentials or vulnerabilities. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Cool Apps LLC disclaims all liability for any damages, losses, breaches, or harms arising from credentials, vulnerabilities, or security issues that were not detected by the KeyScan scanning engine, whether because they fall outside the 70+ known formats, because they were introduced after the scan date, or for any other reason. Purchase of the Certificate does not create any warranty obligation or expanded liability on the part of Cool Apps LLC beyond what is expressly stated in these Terms.
• Permanent availability. Certificates and their associated verification pages remain permanently accessible unless revoked under the terms of this Section. No sensitive credential data is included in a Certificate record — it contains only the cert identifier, domain name, and scan date.
• Revocability. Cool Apps LLC reserves the right to revoke a Certificate and remove its associated verification page and badge if the Certificate was issued in error, if fraudulent or misleading use of the Certificate is detected, or if required by law.
• No refunds. Certificate purchases are final and non-refundable, consistent with Section 4 of these Terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will detect all exposed API keys or credentials, or that scan results are complete or error-free. KeyScan.io should be used as one tool among many in a comprehensive security strategy. For limitations specific to the KeyScan Certificate of Secure Credentials, see Section 6.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, code, and design of the Service are the property of Cool Apps LLC. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cool Apps LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in connection with the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cool Apps LLC, its officers, members, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Service to scan any website or Chrome extension you do not own or are not authorized to scan; (b) your breach of the representations and warranties in Section 3; or (c) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights in connection with your use of the Service.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Sheridan County, Wyoming.
